Grace Renfer

The Gateway PGA Junior Tour has been instrumental in my golf development ever since I was 12 years old.  Starting with 9-hole events and eventually working my way to two-time Player of the Year, the experience laid the foundation for a rewarding high school career and opportunity to play at the collegiate level.  I want to thank Nolan Toovey and the entire Gateway Section staff for offering this wonderful program that has benefited me and so many other junior players over the years.  The people I’ve met and life lessons learned from this experience will forever be endearing to me.

I am also honored and excited to be a recipient of the 2018 Clarence Voigt Memorial Scholarship.  It is truly humbling to be named in honor of Clarence Voigt and I want to thank the Gateway PGA REACH Foundation for their consideration and award of this scholarship. I am forever grateful!

Sincerely,

It was a great surprise and honor to learn that I had been awarded the Clarence Voigt Memorial Scholarship from the Gateway PGA REACH Foundation. I have been playing Gateway PGA tournaments for the last 10 years; Gateway tournaments have taught me patience and how to love golf, even on my worst days. The life lessons I learned through the Junior Tour have given me an opportunity to get to know myself as a golfer. The entire Gateway Staff have made an impact on my life and have been helpful with the development of my golf game.

I sincerely appreciate the opportunities that have been presented to me by the Gateway PGA REACH Foundation and this scholarship program. Golf has always been a part of my life, and I am furthering my education with this scholarship by attending Purdue University Fort Wayne, where I am studying business management.

Golf is truly a game that I can play for the rest of my life, and I am excited about continuing to work toward perfecting my game. Thank you again so much for the Clarence Voigt Memorial Scholarship. I am extremely grateful for your generosity!

Sincerely,

Sarah Lewis

I am honored to have been selected as a winner for the Clarence Voigt Memorial Scholarship.  The award will help in paying for my costs at Carthage College where I am continuing my education and commitment to golf as a member of the Red Men Golf Team. From the age of six years old, I was blessed by being given the opportunity to compete in golf tournaments organized by the Gateway Junior PGA.  I made many friends and met so many kind and dedicated people along the way. It helped mold me into the person I am today.

Over the past 13 years, there were so many wonderful memories, and I just want to say, Thank you. Thank you for the opportunity to compete in golf tournaments, as well as selecting me for this prestigious scholarship.  It is very special to me because St. Clair Country Club, where Mr. Voigt taught for so many years, was where I won my first high school golf tournament at the Goalby/Haas Classic my sophomore year.

Sincerely,

Dylan Davidson
