2018 was a remarkable year for PGA HOPE in the Gateway Section. To kick off the 100th PGA Championship, we were honored to host this year’s Secretary’s Cup at Whitmoor Country Club. The Secretary’s Cup is a once in a lifetime experience that celebrates the PGA HOPE Veterans from programs across the nation. We had 7 teams from all 3 of our PGA HOPE Programs in the Gateway Section and we welcomed PGA HOPE teams from the Carolinas, Metropolitan, New Jersey, Northern California, and Philadelphia Sections. Even though New Jersey took the win, every PGA HOPE Veteran that participated in this event felt like a winner.

Locally, we had 3 different programs run throughout the year.  We had one program out of Springfield, IL led by PGA Professional, Lance Flury. It was a 7 week program that averaged approximately 12-15 veterans each week. We also had a couple of programs in the Mid-Missouri area which ran a series of lessons in both the spring and the fall that lasted 6 weeks, averaging 15-20 veterans each week. Our biggest program is our St. Louis PGA HOPE Program, which averaged about 40 veterans each week. The program concluded with the Annual Patriot Cup, a Ryder Cup format tournament, to celebrate the PGA HOPE Veterans and everyone who played a key role in the success of the program.
